I wrote this over ten years ago.  I recorded it through the pinhole mic on an iBook, so the sound quality is crap.

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company… church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for the day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude…. I am convinced that life is 10% of what happens to us and 90% of how we react to it"

"I do not care what car you drive. Where you live. If you know someone who knows someone who knows someone. If your clothes are this years cutting edge. If your trust fund is unlimited. If you are A-list B-list or never heard of you list. I only care about the words that flutter from your mind. They are the only thing you truly own. The only thing I will remember you by. I will not fall in love with your bones and skin. I will not fall in love with the places you have been. I will not fall in love with anything but the words that flutter from your extraordinary mind."

I feel a pang of jealousy when I listen to this woman sing.  Her voice is so lovely.

30 minutes biking. 1600 calories eaten. The math says I should be operating at a 1000 calorie deficit. It only required a bit of mindfulness.
